Thanks to the Mobile Learning Institute, which has already shared intensive, hands-on digital arts sessions with more than 25,000 young people and teachers, young people across the United States will again be invited to take part in intensive MLI-sponsored Earth Day Challenge Camps this summer, where they’ll learn 21st century skills while they make digital films that express their personal views on the environment.

New Mobile Learning Projects

This summer, young people in select cities will again have the chance to take part in intensive Mobile Learning Institute–sponsored digital arts camps offered in conjunction with schools and community centers. These learning experiences explore local environmental issues as well as global climate threats. Guided by the proven approach of the Mobile Learning Institute, students learn how to express their thoughts, feelings, and recommendations for the future of the environment in digital films they create themselves with the help of the latest mobile devices from Nokia.

Using mobile devices in new ways has always been a cornerstone of the Mobile Learning Institute. In 2009, the Mobile Learning Institute Earth Day Challenge camps will give young people the opportunity to explore Nokia technology more fully through new, innovative projects. Select camps will include: community mapping using global positioning systems, data collection and analysis, and mobile ethnography.

What if I’m Not in an Earth Day Challenge Summer Experience Camp?

MLI Earth Day Challenge Summer Experience Camps are designed to help young people make digital films. However, it is not necessary to take part in an MLI Earth Day Challenge Camp to enter the Contest. Learn more about the Earth Day Challenge Contest and join today!
