Earth Day Challenge
The key to participating in the MLI Earth Day Challenge Filmmaking Contest is to produce a short digital film (of any length under 3 minutes) on an environmental topic and submit it with the necessary entry information to the Pearson Foundation.
Entering through an Earth Day Challenge Summer
Experience Camp
If you are part of an MLI Earth Day Challenge camp (the Earth Day Challenge MLI Summer Experience, the National Parks MLI Summer Experience, or the Food Is Power MLI Summer Film Experience) the process is automatic:
- In an MLI Earth Day Challenge camp, participants work with experienced teachers to create a film about the environment or related topics. This may be of any length under 3 minutes and be of any genre, such as a documentary, drama, or public service announcement.
- When the camp is complete, and if participating students have submitted the necessary forms signed by their legal guardian, their short films will be submitted to the Challenge Contest.
- Judges will review all submissions.
- Subsequent to the final submission deadline date of September 1, 2009, the top entries will be posted at www.mobilelearninginstitute.org.
- October 1, 2009: prize winners announced!
What If I’m Not in an Earth Day Challenge Summer
Experience Camp?
MLI Earth Day Challenge Summer Experience Camps are designed to help young people make digital films. However, it is not necessary to take part in an MLI Earth Day Challenge Camp to enter. Entrants may simply create a digital video in a moviemaking program and submit the finished movie in a DVD or CD format to the Pearson Foundation with the MLI Earth Day Challenge Entry Worksheet. (See Rules for specific program and format requirements.) Entry does, however, require consent from a parent or legal guardian as well as identification of an affiliated school, school district, or sponsoring organization.
Go to Awards & Rules for additional information on how to enter.
