Caring for the environment is a challenge faced by us all, and most urgently by the young people who will inherit it. Young people around the world are invited to accept a new challenge – the Earth Day Challenge – which enables them to raise their voices in support of the environment in the way that inspires them most: by creating digital media. And everyone can help.
Beginning at Jane Goodall's Global Youth Summit – and continuing during the summer – this nonprofit partnership between Nokia and the Pearson Foundation introduces the Mobile Learning Institute Earth Day Challenge, an international competition designed to give young people the chance to share their views on earth's future and everyone's role in combating dangerous climate change.
Open to middle- and high-school students everywhere, the Earth Day Challenge provides a platform for this generation to discover the power of their opinions on current issues, articulate their concerns in video, and share their ideas with others around the world.
While there are other education-focused digital film contests, only the Mobile Learning Institute Earth Day Challenge integrates:
- The chance to work with acclaimed filmmakers and environmental advocates like the Jane Goodall Institute.
- Summer camps in schools nationwide.
- International scope through global Pearson Foundation programs.
